I would like to draw your attention to PRISMAS, a PhD programme involving MAX IV and Swedish Universities, partially funded by an EU COFUND.

CeXS is organizing an international workshop on Combining X-ray imaging and diffraction for materials and biomedical characterisations at KTH on 2nd February 2023.

The Division of X-ray Photon Science arranges the one-day symposium titled “New Opportunities for Science at Free-Electron Lasers and Synchrotrons”. The event will take place January 31, 9-17 in Siegbahnsalen.

The Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Physics Section organises a triple colloquium to celebrate the three new Honorary Doctors: Jochen Schneider, Linda Young, and Marcos Dracos. The event will take place January 26, 10-12 in Polhemsalen.

The centre for Photon Science would like to draw your attention to LEAPS-INNOV, which offers funding for collaborative development work with accelerator-based light sources in Europe for example MAX IV.

Prof. Douglas S. Galvao fomr Applied Physics Department in the State University of Campinas, Campinas-SP, Brazil will hive a talk on Thursday 03/11 at Angstrom building 6, ground floor.

Wednesday September 21 we will be visited by LINXS, the Lund Institute of advanced Neutron and X-ray Science. There will be two identical presentations:

Uppsala University, like other Swedish universities, contributes to the financing of the Swedish synchrotron radiation facility MAX IV. For UU this means a contribution of 9 MSEK/year for the period 2019-2023, and funds for this has been allocated. Of the 9 MSEK/year, 8 MSEK/year can be in the form of in-kind contributions. The Center for Photon Science has been given the task to gather possible in-kind contributions. Find more details here.

Lightsource.org is organizing an symposyom that celebrates 75 years of science with Synchrotron light. The symposium will will take place on Thursday 28th of April.

Many of you who use MAX IV have noticed that the existing beamlines in some cases lack some instruments, equipment, software etc, i.e. minor investments that would improve the output of the beamline. We have been asked by MAX IV to compile a "wishlist" of such minor investments.

You are warmly welcome to participate in the information meeting about a new PhD research programme that Swedish universities and academic institutions are planning to develop together with the MAX IV Laboratory: The Swedish PhD Programme for Synchrotron Science and Applications.

Please note that connected to developing a science-driven strategy to guide MAX IV development during the period of 2023–2030, a number of workshops are planned!

MAX IV is in the process of developing a science-driven strategy to guide the development of the laboratory through 2030. This includes the development of a strategy for MAX IV, and a roadmap.

The Swedish research community is invited to review the proposed specifications of a furnace sample environment for the Swedish material science beam line, P21.2 branch. Feel free to join the meeting organized by CeXS!

At the BALDER beamline of MAX IV, the beamline scientists are working on a new motion control system which will provide a repetition rate of approximately 1 Hz.

MAX IV has started to plan future directions, and we have been asked whether a Quick-EXAFS upgrade of Balder towards 50Hz would be of importance and interest.

To promote photon sciences at UU, the Centre of Photon Science invites you to the Photon Day, May 6! There will be three interesting talks, including one by the winner of the 2020 "Uppsala Photon Science Award”.

VR has opened a call for Röntgen-Ångström Cluster research project grants, with the purpose to strengthen research in materials science and structural biology that uses neutron and synchrotron radiation, including free electron laser radiation.

MAX IV is currently defining its long-term “Science Strategy 2025”.  As a part of this process, MAX IV is inviting the user community to submit their most visionary ideas regarding science projects that can make the most of the opportunities offered at MAX IV.

Science@FELs 2018 will focus on the scientific highlights achieved during the last years at FELs and laser facilities world-wide.

Summer school takes place between 21–29 May 2018 at Backagården and MAX IV Laboratory.

EPFL (Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne) will give a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) covering introductory aspects of synchrotron and XFEL radiation.

We would like to remind you of the upcoming DESY Research Course 2018 on "Trends in Water Research" to be held from 26 February to 01 March 2018 at DESY, Hamburg, Germany.

We would like to invite you to a workshop on single particle imaging with X-ray Free Electron Lasers on September 29-30th. The focus of the workshop is on sample delivery, but it will also include related topics. 

The school will take place between 03-07 October 2016.
