Call for nomination "Uppsala Photon Science Award" 2023

The Center for Photon Science at Uppsala University awards the "Uppsala Photon Science Award", which we colloquially call the "Årets Ljushuvud-priset", to reward doctoral theses with particularly innovative use, development of photon science or particularly outstanding research results with photon science methods. Candidates for "Årets Ljushuvud" are recent PhDs from Uppsala University who completed their dissertation in the previous calendar year. For the 2023 award, the dissertation must have taken place in 2022.

Proposals for prize winners should be sent as a pdf file to the director of the Center for Photonic Science, olle.bjorneholm@physics.uu.se no later than March 17, 2023. The proposal must contain a letter of motivation (max. 1 page), the thesis and the proposed person's CV and contact details.

Prize winners are appointed by the board of the Center for Photonic Science. The award ceremony will take place in connection with Fotonens Dag later in the spring, and the award consists of a diploma and a scholarship.(*)(**)

Centrum för fotonvetenskap vid Uppsala Universitet delar ut "Uppsala Photon Science Award", som vi i folkmun döpt till "Årets Ljushuvud-priset”, för att premiera doktorsavhandlingar med särskilt nyskapande användande, utvecklande av fotonvetenskap eller särskilt framstående forskningsresultat med fotonvetenskapliga metoder. Kandidater till “Årets Ljushuvud” är nyblivna doktorer från Uppsala universitet som disputerat under föregående kalenderår; för 2023 års pris ska disputation ha skett under 2022.

Förslag på pristagare skickas som en pdf-fil till föreståndaren för Centrum för fotonvetenskap, olle.bjorneholm@physics.uu.se senast 17 mars 2023. Förslaget ska innehålla ett motiveringsbrev (max 1 sida), avhandlingen samt den föreslagna personens CV och kontaktuppgifter.

Pristagare utses av styrelsen för Centrum för fotonvetenskap. Prisutdelning kommer att ske i samband med Fotonens Dag senare under våren, och priset består av ett diplom samt ett stipendium.(*)(**)
